April 17, 20197 yr The Following Scenario. Array: Drive 1: 3,5GB free space Drive 2: 30GB free Space Share: Stuff: Minimum free space: 20GB (all drives, fill up) I want to move a file to "Stuff" the Filesize is 1GB. Now unraid knows theoreticaly the file size of 1GB, but it will copy to Drive 2.. cause of the setting "min free space" But i want unraid to move the file to Disk 1 cause there is enough space. On the other hand, when i set Minimum free space on all shares to 0KB (fill up) it would try to copy a file with Filesize 1GB to a disk with only 500MB left and will stop copying when disk is full.. But i think unraid knows about the free space and should copy it to disk 2 with more space left?
April 17, 20197 yr Community Expert The way this works under the covers is at the time the disk is selected the selection code does NOT know the file size. That is why having a sensible value for the Minimum Free Space is important.
