April 20, 20197 yr Hello guys, I have some serious troubles with my Unraid server for quit some time now. At first a regular disk was disabled out of the blue. I rebuilded the array and all was good. But then this repeated several times. I checked the disk and no errors were found. After that I checked all the things that could cause errors and eventually I even bought new parts like a new motherboard, new memory, new CPU and new disks. At first it worked like a charm but since two months the error returned. The only difference is that now my parity gets disabled. This happened four times now. I bought a new parity disk but no solution. I replaced the cables, but no solution. The one thing that seems triggering the errors is when I delete files on the array and replace them with new ones with the same name. For example: I have a movie in x264 format which is 15 gig big and I want to replace it with a x265 file which is 2,5 gig. I delete the x264 and then write the x265 to the array. At first I goes well but after a while the array stops and the error is back. The parity is disabled (the famous red X). I'm out of solutions and I'm desperate. The whole server is replaced with new parts but the error keeps returning. Does anyone have a glue? tower-diagnostics-20190420-0112.zip
April 20, 20197 yr Community Expert The "trigger" is extremely unlikely if not impossible to be the cause of disabled parity. 2 hours ago, Robbedop said: I even bought new parts like a new motherboard, new memory, new CPU and new disks. What about the disk controller? Did you replace that? Which controller is parity on? It looks like an issue communicating with the disk in some way.

Agree, though since the disk dropped offline there's no SMART report, if it looks OK replace/swap both disk cables and try again, if issues persist after that it's likely the disk.

May 9, 20197 yr Author Still the same troubles. I've done a mem-test. No fails. I bought a new power supply but still the same kind of error. I really starting to stress out on this. This only happens when I write something but the error shows up after a couple hours. Anyone other thoughts then above? “Unraid array errors: 08-05-2019 19:22 Warning [TOWER] - array has errors Array has 1 disk with read errors” / “Unraid Parity disk error: 08-05-2019 19:22 Alert [TOWER] - Parity disk in error state (disk dsbl) ST8000AS0002-1NA17Z_Z8414HLP (sdj)” tower-syslog-20190509-1647.zip tower-diagnostics-20190509-0606.zip
