I will definitely look into that but I'm not sure if I'm able to repair the container.

 

Are there any other good BBS systems for Linux available that you know @timbo72 & @NLS?

yeah mystic bbs appears to be the most popular one, it has arm, win and nix ports.

Great!

Ah Mystic is by the guy that made netrunner (one of the most popular terminals).

 

That said, I don't like that this is not a FOSS project and that latest releases are quite a few months back.

 

...but beggars can't be choosers I guess :D

The problem with this is also that the automatic installer doesn't work and so I think Mystic is a dead end... :/

 

I will look into Enigma 1/2 BBS again, but this can take some time... :/

You could talk to the guy that made it.

I find that when giving a dev a new spark (like running this in a container in something like unRAID), kickstarts things back into action.

Maybe he is interested to fix his side of the program's issues.

Indeed the guy that made Mystic is almost hiding. :D

He wants to keep an underground profile etc.

On the other hand, Enigma is FOSS, so it has a nice github page that has info and some contacts (Bryan Ashby or NuSkooler) and is also on Facebook.

Setting up the ARK docker for my wife to run a few servers to play around on but the download has taken 3-4 days to get to 90% (checking the logs)

Is anyone else having this problem or have any ideas why this might be happening?
Speed test is around 960 down and 48 up

This is completely unusual, do you have te game setup to run from the cache?

Eventually SteamCMD has a problem downloading the game.

Do you use some kind of Steam Caching software?

From what I've found, yes it should be totally doable, but I don't create Containers anymore where I don't own the game since troubleshooting is really hard if the Container somehow fails to start.

ok so i followed the guide to setup the ark cluster and i believe i've set it up correctly however i'm having a slight issue, everything starts and all the maps finish loading except The Island.

for some reason that one gets stuck on (or just after) the downloading mods part even though all the mods are already downloaded and the other servers load up no problem but because The Island is getting stuck on this it means none of them are working to where it shows up and i can play the game because i think ARK0-A3C detects it's not running and restarts them all i think, here is what comes up on The Island log:

but all the other servers get to the 'Setting breakpad minidump AppID = 346110' text.

does anyone have any ideas what it may be?

the mod it get's up to is Tek Helper btw, which is the last mod in the list.

 

update:
i disabled -automanagedmods on The Island and it no longer has the issue but i'm getting mod version missmatch now because i think one of them was updated yesterday so i would like it on and working.

Holy mods Batman!! If the mod makers do not publish their mods correctly there is nothing my nor wildcards auto updater can do to fix it. Your best solution would be to spin down all of the servers, update the mods manually on your pc first then update the server from your game PCs files then turn up the servers without the a3c , make sure you can log in to them all, then turn up the a3c and watch the log if it says there is an update to a specific mod and you are certain that you updated it then spin down the a3c and contact the mod author to get it fixed.

well i've solved those issues i was having and now i've ran into a new one sadly, right now i have the cluster running but when i search for my server in join ark it's showing some of them as ShooterEntry for the map as well as listing them as 0/70 players despite the fact they should be set to 10 (it also edits the GameUserSettings.ini to be 70) and it's showing them running no mods and in pvp mode when it should be yes for having mods and in pve mode :(
not sure where to go from here.

Are you using separate mapped saved directories? If not then what is likely happening is that you are running into time of issues where one server is writing to the configs while another is starting to read from them.

i used the xml's from the guide that's pinned which separates everything.
