I'm getting an incompatible version error when trying to connect to Palword. Look like there hasn't been an update to the docker in 9 days, am I missing something?

If you get the 0x6 error, then please look at this post:

Edit: deleting steamapps and another restart fixed it! Thanks

Ya, i know its old, had it lying around and runs everything else just fine. I have also ran the server on this inside windows before without issues.

Did you completely uninstall the container and install it from scratch, so to speak:

  1. Delete the container
  2. Delete the folder for subsistency from appdata directory
  3. Install a new instance from the CA App

Did you change anything in the template?

To what primary and secondary location is your appdata share set in the Share settings?

There could be multiple reasons why it doesn‘t start, my log and testing was just a deployment without changing anything in the template.

Please also don‘t forget that it might be the case that you where running the dedicated server before just fine but since this dedicated server runs through WINE (that’s why it’s marked as beta) it might be the case that you are missing istructions which are needed by WINE or it could also be the case that the game might got an update where new requirements for instructionsets where introduced.

This time i completely deleted all the left over folders and reinstalled and it worked. Greatly appreciate your time!

Help with Satisfactory please.

Have latest unRAID server on a i310105, 32gb ram. Installs fine from the CA app. However after several hours it won't show up in the server menu in Satisfactory game. Checked the share on unRAID and it's 4.35gb only when the server software is 25gb, I've read. Tried this twice now after uninstalling the docker and deleting the app data folder. Root app data share is on cache only (SSD) no secondary location.

Thank you for any help.

What does the container log say?

Wait, I'm a moron, had the wrong IP plugged in. Doh lol :)

Works seemingly fine, but still there wasnt much of an initial load into the server. It's still showing as 4.35GB per the docker folder in appdata. But it is working.

My Valheim Dedicated server is very slow. Granted, I have a massively huge castle, but it runs fine on my gaming PC. At least locally.

But, the castle loads in a brick at a time and takes about 30 seconds to fully load the first time I enter the server. And when we play together, we get constant de-syncs and pretty bad lag. For example, people frequently can't open chests, and fighting enemies is hit or miss, as they glitch around and lag out. You never really know if what you're fighting is an enemy that's actually there, or if they've moved away, or have already killed you... frustrating.

Is this just Valheim's inability to properly network, or is this a symptom of the Docker container not having enough system resources?

What I can't figure out is how to assign more system resources to the container. When I look at the system resources while it's running, I'm maxing out at around 10-12% CPU usage, and very limited RAM usage, and the GPU is (predictably, I suppose) idling.

Server specs:
i7 3770k
32 GB DDR3 RAM
GTX 960 (4GB)

Server is hosting 4 people at a time, maximum.

Any thoughts on improving the performance of the server?

I'm having issues joining my beammp server with mods enabled. I can join perfectly fine when I don't have any mods in the resources/client folder. I've tried different mods one at a time and still nothing. It says that I'm connecting to the server and then it disconnects and just says "start" as the error.

This will hopefully shed some light on the underside working bits of building a cluster of servers for ARK:SurvivalEvolved.

With the inspiration (read thievery) from @growlith I present the A3C (ARK Cluster Companion Container). It and the accompanying XLM files should allow for a fairly simple stand up of a new ARK server cluster.

https://github.com/CydFSA/A3C

Go to the github, fetch the XMLs for however many servers you want to use in your new cluster, salt them to taste with your information (server names, cluster name, passwords, adminpasswords, ect...).

Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

historical information left below (really go get the newer stuff from github)

------------------------------

We are going to start with getting -UseDynamicConfig working and talking to our config file rather than the Official one out at http://arkdedicated.com/dynamicconfig.ini , I know it feels like that should come last but bear with me.

First we have a simple http server running by itself serving up the "dynamicconfig.ini" on port 80 on its container, this is mapped out to the host on 8080 and is not really needed but makes it easy to take a quick glance at tower:8080 to see what the settings are. I ran this container first so that it would receive a predictable IP address (172.17.0.2:80) that is then used in the configurations of the remaining containers to add an entry to the hosts file (--add-host=arkdedicated.com:172.17.0.2) so that requests to http://arkdedicated.com/dynamicconfig.ini in the game servers are pointed to the container running at 172.17.0.2. If you don't want or care to use the dynamic configs, omit the ARK0 container and remove -UseDynamicConfig from the "Extra Game Parameters" of all subsequent ARK's you deploy.

Next I deployed 10 ARK server instances, why 10 when there are only 9 maps? Well, I assume that Wild card will have another map for Genesis Part 2 coming in the spring so I added a container to house it, currently it is configured as a 2nd Genesis1 map with all the correct ports and paths. If they do release a new map it will only require changing the map name in the config and starting the container.

The ports are mapped sequentially so you will only need to insert three port forward blocks into your gateway router (UDP 7777-7796, UDP 27015-27024, TCP 27025-27034) You do not need anything forwarded to ARK0 as it is only there to talk to ARKs 1-10.

ARK0-dynamicconfig        tcp     80:8080
ARK1-TheIsland            Udp1 7777    UDP2 7778    UDPSteam 27015    TCPRCON 27025

Path mappings are slightly more complex. SteamCMD is in its original location per @ich777's standard and the binary data for ARK is also in the default location. Having the server binaries shared also means that when there is an update to ARK (and/or SteamCMD) it only has to be downloaded one time rather than 10. The update procedure is to bring all of the ARKs down then start ARK1 let it update and initialize then bring the others back up en mass, as a precaution I have the wait timer on ARKs 2-10 set to 600 seconds so that if the Tower host gets rebooted ARK1 has time to pull any updates and initialize. The ARK savegame data and Server Config files are mapped into the proper location on a per container basis. This prevents each server instance from mucking up the servers config .inis (which they liked to do), this also means that you can use different options on each ark and makes managing the SavedArks less hair pully outy. The clustering function is done with a shared resource directory and a ClusterID (-clusterid=arkStar under "Extra Game Parameters")

Dynamiccimfig data:
/dynamicconfig<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/dynamicconfig

SteamCMD:
/serverdata/steamcmd<>/mnt/user/appdata/steamcmd

ARK data:
/serverdata/serverfiles<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se

Cross ARK cluster data:
/serverdata/serverfiles/clusterfiles<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/cluster

ARK configs and Save Data:
/serverdata/serverfiles/ShooterGame/Saved<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/ARK1-TheIsland
/serverdata/serverfiles/ShooterGame/Saved<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/ARK2-ScorchedEarth_P
/serverdata/serverfiles/ShooterGame/Saved<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/ARK3-Aberration
/serverdata/serverfiles/ShooterGame/Saved<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/ARK4-TheCenter
/serverdata/serverfiles/ShooterGame/Saved<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/ARK5-Ragnarok
/serverdata/serverfiles/ShooterGame/Saved<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/ARK6-Valguero_P
/serverdata/serverfiles/ShooterGame/Saved<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/ARK7-CrystalIsles
/serverdata/serverfiles/ShooterGame/Saved<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/ARK8-Extinction
/serverdata/serverfiles/ShooterGame/Saved<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/ARK9-Genesis
/serverdata/serverfiles/ShooterGame/Saved<>/mnt/cache/appdata/ark-se/ARK10-Genesis2

The XML files are attached below, if you chose to use them please make sure to edit them to your taste; server names, passwords, clusterIDs, ect. They can be used by placing them in /boot/config/plugins/dockerMan/templates-user then going to "Docker/Add Container" then choosing from the "Template:" drop down.

Or maybe @ich777 will do us all a favor and decide to add them to his already impressive XML collection  ;)

@Cyd would it be possible to use this in conjunction with @ich777's ASA Container? I know this is meant for ASE, but hopefully, it would work the same.

From what I know yes.

But I really can‘t help further because I don‘t play ASA.

Maybe someone else can help here.

I have about 20 mods on the server where my son and I are playing on without any issues.

However I had already a few issues in the past with some mods that where not fully compatible.

You restart the server each time you add or remove mods correct?

I would recommend creating a post on the BeamMP forums.

I appreciate you replying. I have read many of your replies here and know you deal with many questions. Based on your knowledge, do you know if people have successfully run mods in this container? I looked on this thread and around online and it seems mixed.

From what I saw yes but I really can‘t tell what they‘ve done, one user I think posted what he needed to do but I could be wrong about that since it was posted a while back I think…

It depends. it can be as simple as adding "-mods=" to the runtime or it can be a pain in the butt if you try to run the AsaApi thingy

The CPU is at like 10-15%, max, while playing. Is there any way to ensure the docker container can use more system resources?

And, of course inside the castle, I don't expect it to be super quick, but fighting enemies outside of the castle, where even my 7 year old gaming laptop runs the game at 60fps, it desyncs constantly, and the lag makes it almost unplayable.

Honestly, I am going step by step to see what I can do. Learning a lot by just getting my hands dirty. Going for a cluster now and the only thing I can think of is multiple containers on different ports but have them have the same cluster ID.....once I can hop between maps, then I'll try Mods....

This is probably caused because most games are single core or dual core optimized on the dedicated server, the container itself will use all of your resources if the application inside is able to do so.

So when I joined the world and being at the spawn with the Wolfes is all fine, teleporting to the castle it loads pretty quick over here and even going through a few more portals everything seems fine to me.

The castle is loaded for the first time in about 5 seconds and that is my opinion for that size really quick (of course it loads in a few minor things if you walk through the castle but that also doesn't affect the game play) after the initial load from the castle it basically loads instantly if I teleport from and to the castle.

I haven't been doing tests with more players but I assume this would work also fine over here.

It is most likely your CPU what's holding you back, I tested this on my main server Intel i9-10900

Alright, well, I'll probably give up on the dedicated server idea and just host it on my main PC with an i7 13700k

Thanks for looking into it for me!
