Sorry but I don't understand, I have a Team Fortress Classic container and a Team Fortress 2 container, isn't this something different?

I'm slow in the head mate didn't realised TF classic is the old one. Can you give me more info on how your containers work so I can try and edit the TF2 container to work with classified. If I change the game name and the steam ID it grabs the right files and everything but it never starts the server.

Hello, I just downloaded the OpenRCT2 Unraid server but cannot figure out how to get this run as a dedicated 24/7 local server. I wanted to try to get a map to be self sufficient, only checking o nit from time to time but I'm having some issues accomplishing that. I'd connect to the server via my home PC, which I can, but the server itself would be running on a dedicated bare metal machine running Unraid 7.1.4. Any help is appreciated.

Please look at this post, my containers are self maintaining and that means they update them self on restart if that is not working you can do that (of course it's another game but the same applies for your container) :

Hi. I was trying to follow the above advice for the Terraria docker since I updated the Steam game to 1.4.5, but this doesn't seem to apply to the Terraria server. There's no steamapps directory inside appdata/Terraria.

Any suggestions?

Yes, Terraria pulls the files directly from terraria.org

Does the update not work? I think the latest version is 1.4.5.4 Have you yet tried this version?

My apologies. I didn't know I had to change the preferred version in the docker settings and it would update. It is fixed, thank you!

This is a common issue with steamcmd:

  1. Stop the container

  2. Delete the steamapps folder in the game directory

  3. Start the container

After that steamcmd should pull the update.

@ich777 - I have figured it out but the container is not honoring the Password= part of my game.ini file. It looks like the docker is just not parsing it during boot.

Hi, i hope this questions wasn't ansered before. At least i didn't find a answer in this forum.

I startet a Wreckfest Server with the "ich777/steamcmd:wreckfest" container, and it runs fine. My question is there a way to access the console of the server? With the ability to input commands as on the windows console when the server is running on windows?

Thx in advance.

Sure, click on the container icon and select WebUI.

This should be also be mentioned in the Description from the container if I'm not mistaken.

Is this the Log or the WebUI?

If it doesn't work anymore I can't do anything since they broke a lot in one of the last updates and since this is running through WINE this complicates things further.

Do you mean update for wreckfest or of some component?

Or is there an option with the console of the docker container to enter the console of the running cmd from wine?

Update for the dedicated server.

No, the container tries to open the console when you click on WebUI, however have you tried to enter commands in the console form the screenshot above. Maybe it works however, it was working back when I added that feature but over here I can't even get the container to work properly anymore.

Thanks for trying. The first startup took forever. And it took several starts of the container until i could connect, but as far as i remember that happend on windows too.

If i can provide further information that could help, please let me know.

Here are two more screeshots, one form the logs of the container. And one with a bigger part of the webui window.

The container itself looks good to me. Exept for the Out/Input of the console...

If you don't have time, to support this old game any further just let me know.

Thank you for your efforts.

Yes, because the container downloads the game files on first start, that's pretty normal.

I still support the container but time is very limited. So to speak this will take some time.

However most of the times it should be enough to manage the server through the game or at least for now you have to do it that way since if you add your SteamID as the server owner you can do that when joining the game.

HI ich777,

I realize you are not accepting requests anymore but I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction for a game. My daughter and I would like to host the game called Aloft for her and a couple friends. I have a good unraid server I use for plex, so I was thinking that would be a good way to not paying monthly for a server that may or may not get used much. I just have never messed with dockers besides installing them through the unraid interface.

Thanks

If you have availabe ram & cpu, I would just create a windows vm and run it on that.

Aloft

Aloft is Windows only and AFAIK only ships with the game itself so it would be really hard to create a game server for that specific game.

Do you have any logs? What update? Did the game had an update?
Did you try to restart the container and see if it pulled the update too in the log?

I haven't been able to run the Palworld server in a couple of days now. I tried restarting the container like the instructions say, but the logs are still reporting that the game is running on an older version. Could the newest Palworld update have broken the server files?

DId you get this figured out? I haven't launched Palworld in over a year (worked great before) and I'm getting the same error you are when trying to connect to the game server (server version is an older incompatible game version).

I deleted the steamcmd appdata folder, restarted the Palworld docker, and still same issue when trying to join the server. My docker log says it's running Palworld v0.7.1.86065 and the Palworld game says it's running v0.7.2.87654 any way to force the docker to pull down the latest matching version from Steam?

My I ask why? You have to delete the steamapps folder inside your palworld directory not the steamcmd folder, but of course first stop the container, then start it again and it should pull the update.

An update for the game (major version i think).

It was working fine the previous days. The docker logs does not show much, the update is downloaded but it looks like the server terminate itself after the start. For what i read while trying to fix the server is that the last version may need a dependency (missing or outdated) from the container.

I even tried with a fresh server (and fresh steamcmd) but it still fail. Then i switched to "Core-Keeper-Dedicated-Server" and have no issue.

I can provide logs if you need to, but depending on my tests, they are not always the same (no options vs option -crossplay and/or -batchmode and/or -nographics)
