jonp
Hi there, Assuming that a reboot temporarily resolves the issue before the system hangs again. If that is true, then you will need to connect a monitor, mouse, and keyboard direct to the server, boot it up, and get to the command line. From there, run this command: tail /var/log/syslog -f This will start printing the system log directly to the local monitor. This means when the system hangs, you will be able to see the final log messages before the hang. If nothing shows up, then something is likely amiss with the hardware (which could be the case anyways), but if something does show up, it'll give us a thread to follow to help discover the source of your issue. As you can probably guess, this is abnormal behavior that the majority of users don't face, so I doubt this is a software bug and more than likely either a configuration issue or a hardware defect. itimpi
If Windows thinks the USB stick needs repairing then you should let it do so. the fact that Windows is offering to do so in the first place means you may have some sort of file system level corruption on the USB stick. If not then Windows will just set things up to say that the USB stick has been tidily unmounted. I would suggest that you download the ZIP version of the Unraid release that you are using and then extract all the bz* type files overwriting the copies on the USB drive in case one of them has been corrupted in any way. 1 Quote Link to comment
itimpi
There is a flag somewhere in the USB file system that is left set if the USB was not cleanly unmounted and it is this that Windows detects. The vast majority of the time there is nothing wrong with the contents of the USB stick and Windows merely resets the flag to say that the file system looks fine. It is however a useful warning if you subsequently have problems that the contents could be suspect. 1 Quote Link to comment
