October 15, 201015 yr Right now I'm using firewire 800 drives connected to a desktop, which are shared to stream media across my network. It works, but it's a little cumbersome and it has no redundancy. I've been doing some research, and it looks like unraid would be perfect to turn one of my old PCs into a media server. The only problem I see is how to get it connected to the network. Almost my entire network is connected through 802.11n (I live in an apartment and can't run cables). The unraid machine will be across the apartment from my router, so there is no way to connect over ethernet. Does unraid have any support for wireless network cards (can be USB or PCIe)? If so, are there any known to work? Thanks in advance for any help!
October 15, 201015 yr Given your constraints, the cleanest/easiest/safest solution is to connect your unRAID through a wireless access point.
October 15, 201015 yr Agreed. Also, do you care about streaming HD content? It is sometimes iffy over wifi, depends on your setup.
