NVMe M2 SSD unsafe shutdown count

Recommended Posts

I’m also getting very high temp since installing the M2 SSD, with today getting up to 71degrees celcius. When I first installed it was below 40 degrees celcius. It fluctuates quite a bit between 50-70 now. Is this normal? It is a 512GB 970pro Samsung nvme M2 drive.

From the Spec's on this drive:

Environmental Specs

Operating Temperature

0 - 70 ℃ Operating Temperature

You have exceeded the temperature limit.  It might be a self-protection circuit inside the drive.  First thing I would suggest is that you open up the case and clean all dust and/or dirt out.  Make sure that all case fans are running.

For servers, the recommended practice is for all of the air to come in over the drives first at the front of the case and then be exhausted out of the rear of the case.  This means that all case openings behind the HD's should be blocked and all fans in that area exhausting.  I understand with other setups, where there are powerful (heat producing) GPU's, this may not be the case.
