Can anyone suggest PCIe Controller Cards, preferably 8 port, compatible with UnRaid which are availible in the UK

I have been looking for a couple of weeks for Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 but cannot find anywhere in the UK which them in stock

Further to my email, I can see that lots of people are viewing, but there are no replies I guess because most of you are in the US :)

I would be grateful if you could advise what PCIe controller cards which you are using sucessfully with UnRaid, so that I can then check availbilty. I am looking at mainly 8 port & 4 port cards

I have looked at the Hardware Compatibility list, but it would appear that this needs updating as most cards listed are PCI

Scan have the 1430sa OEM version in stock.

Adaptec 1430sa

Ebay will get you one from the US. Either Supermicro or an Adaptec.

If you are brave, and can find a highpoint with a marvell chipset it should work.

Highpoint 2320 for instance uses Marvell chipset so may work. At £250 (scan) bit ofd a high risk factor.

Highpoint 2680 is £160 (scan) and uses same chip as the supermicro. Pretty much a straight implementation so has a higher chance of working that the 2320. About the same price as two 1430SA so worth a punt.

Span have 1430SA in stock also.

£75

I purchased an Adaptec 1430SA from ebuyer a fortnight ago for £75.  I was struggling to find suppliers of PCI-E SATA cards at reasonable price in the UK - and was trying to avoid using Scan.

(There is an ongoing thread over at AVForums with some nightmare Scan customer support stories from well regarded members)

I here that. I trawl ebay looking for cards, slow progress but I have got some good bargains.

I have just bought 2 Adaptec 1430SA cards from Scan, I know that the Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 is cheaper but then you have to buy the SAS to SATA cards @ £12 each.

I see that Tom has been using Adaptec 1430SA cards in the complete servers which he sells for years, so figure that they are tryed and tested :)

No you don't, SM will happily talk SATA or SAS. Only time you need SAS -> SATA board is running SAS drive from a SATA only HBA. All you need is the right cable for your requirement.

The Adaptec cards were used by Tom for a long time so you cant go wrong with them.

YEP!!  I had to buy four of those sata cables at £12 each, but they should look really cool in the case when all my drives are connected. Nice n' tidy
