TomasJAnderson
Hello all, I just need a little sanity check from more experienced users as so far I've only really used unraid for data backup. The general purpose is to merge my VM server and backup server into one and attempt to make it a more silent experience. On the VM side of things it will run a Win10 VM for video editing, an ubuntu VM used for remote work on the go and maybe a few more test enviroments. I'd also look into dockerizing things like Plex which will host videos and photos for family members, see if I can automate handbrake maybe to automatically convert footage, and a webserver or 2 (+ reverse proxy). Datawise I'm currently sitting on 30-35 TB. Due to this I've kinda moved towards workstation component. My current rackable servers are also very noisy and causing a few issues with the wife, so on top of performance I'm also looking to keep it quiet. Anyways here are the parts I've picked out so far, any input is greatly appreciated : CPU: AMD - Threadripper 2950X 3.5 GHz 16-Core ProcessorCPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-U14S TR4-SP3 82.52 CFM CPU CoolerMotherboard: Gigabyte - X399 AORUS XTREME EATX TR4 MotherboardMemory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-2666 MemoryMemory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-2666 MemoryStorage: Intel - 660p Series 2 TB M.2-2280 Solid State DriveStorage: Western Digital - Red 10 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard DriveStorage: Western Digital - Red 10 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard DriveStorage: Western Digital - Red 10 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard DriveStorage: Western Digital - Red 10 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard DriveStorage: Western Digital - Red 10 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard DrivePower Supply: Corsair - 1600 W 80+ Titanium Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power SupplyCase Fan: Noctua - NF-A15 PWM 140mm FanOther: Phanteks Eclipse P600S Quote Link to comment
