edmoisaa
Good Afternoon, So I recently purchased a dell poweredge R710 with a perc700 raid controller and I was migrating my old system to this new system when I ran into a drive problem. Essentially my drives had to be created into virtual disks (raid controller) which were fine and then when in the unraid OS I had to create a new config in order for the original array to be recognised. The drives were then recognised, however, two of the data drives (which still have data on them) have an issue where they are Unmountable due to "Unsupported partition layout" with a file system type of auto. Attached are my diagnostics where a use option for smartctl is quoted. And images of my before and after disk layout. Thanks for any help in advance. server-diagnostics.zip Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
That's one of the reason RAID controllers are not recommended, only option is to reformat the disks, you can copy the data before mounting them with UD. Quote Link to comment
edmoisaa
So if I format a new drive on the system I can copy the files to that drive? (From the two 2tb hard drives), Presuming the capacities line up? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
If you mean copy from other drives yes, any data on the formatted disks will be deleted. Quote Link to comment
edmoisaa
Awesome, is there an external link for this process? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Just mount the source disks with UD plugin and then use your favorite command/util to copy, you can use rsync, mc, krusader docker, etc Quote Link to comment
edmoisaa
So another issue now, it is saying the superblock is invalid. That is when trying to mount the drive using UD. Edited May 9, 2019 by edmoisaa Quote Link to comment
