Preclear fails with a drvie

Featured Replies

Hello,

I pulled a drive from an old NAS and was trying to use it in the new array.

I went ahead and did the preclear but and i left it for the night. After i come back i did not see the disk at all onthe list. So i went ahead and rebooted PC and disk came back.

However now when it runs preclear is just says aborted after reading for some time.

In the logs i see:

current-pending-sector-count 1

which is marked yellow.

I cannot run extended or short smart is always says error and that's it.

Is the drive completely bad with single sector ?

Is it safe to run or it was just a glich that is completly unmounted itself... I used diffrent SATA port, diffrent cable all with same result..

If the disk will not run the short AND extended SMART tests without error then the disk has almost certainly had it.   As a rule of thumb passing those tests does not mean a disk does not have issues, but failing them certainly does.

if you want confirmation you could post your system diagnostics zip file (obtained via Tools->Diagnostics).
