Ping? Suppose this is a very new card...

Interesting.  So this is basically the SATAIII version of the AOC-SASLP-MV8?  Doesn't that extra speed not matter in unRAID (at least not yet)?  I mean, if it is the same price, then sure, why not.  But I wouldn't pay extra for that feature.

Also, are there any aging AOC-SASLP-MV8 cards?  Didn't they come out less than a year ago?

Finally, this card is full sized, whereas the AOC-SASLP-MV8 is half-sized.  That probably won't matter for most of us, but it could for someone attempting to build the smallest possible server.

Nope this is not a Marvell card... All the latest gen SuperMicro cards are next gen LSI chipset cards. Which until Lime adds support for aren't much use...

any new of  AOC-USAS2-L8e will it work whit the new 5.0 ?

This is a new LSI-2008 based card. The Linux support is still kind of new compared to the age of older cards, but seems to work inside of a standard Linux distro if you have mpt2sas drivers and a kernel of at least 2.6.30+. Obviously the newer the kernel the more recent the included drivers will be.

I do not know if unRAID drivers will work with it or not. Hopefully the 5.0 beta 3 will include some scsi-based patches from SK to support this and additional controller cards.

AOC-SASLP-MV8 aging - saw it for sale for the first time in Denmark a few weeks ago.....
