Host crash when increasing guest memory

I have a Linux (Kubuntu) guest using a GPU passthrough (AMD). When I try to increase the amount of memory to the guest and start it up, the entire hypervisor becomes unresponsive and I have to hard reset the entire system. If I set the GPU to VNC instead of the passthrough, it works. Any suggestions for how to troubleshoot this? Are there any logs I can look at for clues?

    Chrome (Android)
    1. Tap the lock icon next to the address bar.
    2. Tap Permissions → Notifications.
    3. Adjust your preference.
    Chrome (Desktop)
    1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
