Missing Shares

Featured Replies

I recently upgraded from 6.6.7 to 6.7.0 and a few of my shares have disappeared from the shares tab and from the server when I browse to it within windows explorer. The issue persists through restarts. The shares still show up within the shares folder on the flashdrive itself and can also be accessed through krusader. Has anyone else had this issue or knows a way to resolve it?

Thanks

Go to Tools - Diagnostics and attach the complete diagnostics zip file to your next post.

Multiple segfaults and btrfs checksum errors would point to bad RAM, run memtest, also make sure you're not overclocking the RAM.

Thanks. I'll take care of that. Would this help with the shares issue or are they unrelated?

After getiing the server stable post new diags if issues persist.

Will need to run a scrub on cache and delete/replace the corrupt files.

Will do. Its going to be a while before I can do so, currently remote but as soon as I get back I'll start.

Just got back and replaced all of my ram with 2666 ecc from crucial. I've run a scrub on the cache and its returned 2 uncorrectable errors. How can I go about finding and deleting them?

  • Community Expert

Errors will be listed on the syslog after the scrub, if corruption is on the data it will list the file names, it won't for metadata corruption.

Thanks a lot for all of the help. I found the two files and deleted them, ran another scrub and it now returns 0 errors. Should I post a new diagnostics file?

Not needed if all is well now.

I am still have a few shares missing from the shares page and from windows explorer but they are still available through krusader. Any idea why this might be?

  • Community Expert

In that case post new diags.

There's also metadata corruption on the cache pool, you should backup cache pool, re-format and restore data, and reboot once done.

That issue together with the previous data corruption and some parity sync errors visible in the log would suggest a memory problem with the server, run memtest and make sure you're not overclocking the RAM as some AMD CPUs/boards can corrupt data if that's the case.

I'm backing up all of the cache data right now. Whats the best method to do the full wipe, reformat, and restore?

  • Community Expert

You can clear the devices with the array stopped by typing:

blkdiscard /dev/nvmeXn1

Then start the array and format the pool, but you'll need to fix whatever is corrupting the data or likely the same will happen again soon.

Will do. I'll get memtest running after I've backed up the cache. I haven't overclocked the new ram, just running it at 2666, but I am worried there may be an issue with my cpu or memory controller since it took numerous reseats of each stick to get the system to post.

I've run memtest for 13 hours and no issues so far so hopefully the hardware issues have been sorted out.

I am still missing a few shares though. Should I post another diagnostic file?

  • Community Expert

Yes, if cache pool was reformatted already.

Haven't been following this thread, but why is your docker image 100G? You should never fill even 20G unless you have something misconfigured. When you go to reduce your docker image size, you should also turn on log rotation on that same page.

Share cfg files don't get removed from flash even if the share no longer exists. You have a few of those with no files on any disk so I guess they are gone.

I can't remember why I set the docker image file to 100 but I'm changing it down to 20 now. Whats odd about the missing shares is that I can still access them and all the files within them from krusader but they aren't present within the shares tab nor can I brows to them with windows explorer.

Maybe something about your krusader setup is misleading you. Are you saying there are actual files in these shares? Post your run command for the krusader docker and a krusader screenshot showing what you are seeing.
