Unable to see hard drives on laptop

Featured Replies

I have successfully installed UnRaid and formatted drives and the drives are all in the green after the parity completed.

I had some initial problems connecting through my laptop (Win7) I just kept getting "Unrecognised network" I eventually entered the ip address manually as there could be an issue with my Atheros 8132 chip. I can now connect to the server and see all the drive info etc. Trouble is I cannot see any of my hard drives in "my network" All the setting are still set at default so according to the wiki I should be able to see my drives. Will this still be a Atheros 8132 chip problem or am i missing a step somewhere.

My setup

CX500 psu single 12v rail

Asus P5LD2-VM

2 corsair 1 gb matched sticks cm2x1024 5400c4

Pentium 4 processor 540j 3.2GHz 800 MHz FSB

3 hdd's of various sizes.

Using a Toshiba T110 laptop networked to the mobo.3

Any suggestions would be appreciated..thanks

Paul

can you see the drives when you write

\\tower

in windows explorer?

No.. I get standard error message  "page not found...try typing www.  etc etc.

Sorry for delay in replying but i'm in work and can only acces during lunch break.

My Laptop still says the connection is unidentified and it is a public network and I cannot change it. But its shows packets going both ways.

I have tried \\tower

\\192.168.1.1  etc.etc

In fact I've tried almost everyway i can think of.

well, in my pc it also says unidentified network and it is also public (which i cannot chane) but it works fine.

I have disabled DHCP and use static ips in both the unraid server and my pc:

here is my network.cfg file, it may help (of course, you can change the settings from the Unraid web page):

# Generated settings:

USE_DHCP=no

IPADDR=192.168.0.101

NETMASK=255.255.255.0

GATEWAY=192.168.0.1

HWADDR=00:13:D3:EE:B9:EE

DHCP_KEEPRESOLV=no

DNS_SERVER1=192.168.0.1

DNS_SERVER2=

DNS_SERVER3=

the static IP in my client pc is obviously 192.168.0.1

Thank you for that, as soon as I get home I will look into it and report back my findings.
