USB Keyboard/Mouse not working Linux

I have been running a Windows VM with no issue with GPU + USB Controller passthrough. Recently I have been trying to install multiple linux VM's and it will not allow me to control the USB keyboard mouse. I thought at first there was something wrong with my passthrough settings so I installed it with VNC and lsusb and the individual devices are recognised ie pull them out put them in, I can also use a USB mass storage device. Keyboard and mouse refuse to work.. they work up until the moment that the linux(Grub??) launcher boots. Any thoughts on this? Has anyone else encountered this?
