October 20, 201015 yr I know this will sound kinday silly BUT......my server sits in my living room on the floor. I have two dogs and a cat so I get a lot of dust etc. I was just wondering if sitting my server on an antistatic matt would repel some of the dust. It's either that or attach one of those little hand held fans to the server somewhere to prevent the dust from accumulating.
October 20, 201015 yr i'm not for sure about the mat but do you have filters on your intake fans? Getting the unit a few inches above the floor will probably do the most good. An antistatic mat will do nothing for dust. (and filters on the fans will certainly help, although they will need to be replaced/cleaned regularly)
October 20, 201015 yr Author I only have a filter on the bottom of the case for the powersupply. The two top and rear all are output fans. The only other fans I have are on the Icy Docks which obviously have no filter.
October 20, 201015 yr I agree, get it off the ground. Either put it up on blocks or put it on a table. I did the latter and noticed a huge difference. I only have to clean out my server every 6 months or so. I also have a dog...
