Pre-Clear bogging down CPU

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am trying to add an older server HD to my raid and enabled preclear before going to bed. I woke up this morning while I could get to my server over the network my dockers were unresponsive (Plex, Unifi, etc). I was able to stop the preclear and everything immediately started working again. I went to the dashboard that was previously unresponsive and all of my threads were capped at 100 percent. Very quickly they started calming down until my server was operating normally again and sitting at 3 percent utilization. I have a 10 core 20 thread CPU on this server and don't have any issues typically. I have precleared a drive before and while slow it never slowed my server. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

Attached diagnostics will allow the experts here to help out. But that sounds to me like you have a bad drive.
