October 22, 201015 yr Hi, does anyone of you use the RaidSonic IB-555SSK Backplane? It's a very cool looking thing: http://www.raidsonic.de/data/datasheet/icybox/DE/datasheet_ib-555_554_553_d.pdf ... and according to this http://compusential.com/2010/07/09/raidsonic-icy-box-555ssk/ review, it seems to be an nice alternative to the 5 bay Icy Dock backplane. Any 'hand on' experiences of an unRAID user? Have a nice weekend, Chris
October 22, 201015 yr Author Take a look at the embossed logo on the product there... ... it says 'Icy Box'? ... not 'Icy Dock'. Sorry, but I don't get your point. Give me a hint... Cheers, Chris
October 23, 201015 yr For the same kind of money you could do what I did and buy one of these http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/Product_Read.asp?Idx=367 Complete case with 6 hot swap bays and for another £30 or so, you can add another 3 x hot swap bay. As supplied, only one bay has a fan (which is odd) but another fan costs next to nothing.
February 17, 201115 yr It's the same company. why do you think that? they don't seems related to me i have used 2 Icy Box IB-555SK in my build never used an icy dock tho
February 18, 201115 yr why do you think that? It's a standard design that several companies have branded as their product. It's done in manufacturing all the time. Basically, if it looks identical, has the same specs, and costs the same... it is a duck.
February 18, 201115 yr I was merely asking because searching for drive cages I haven't seen this design elsewere. This version seems to be available in europe asia and australia. dont think i've seen models like it on the icy dock website if anyone knows a different source for them it could make some people happy.
February 18, 201115 yr I've seen a bunch of rebadged drive trays and cages out there, like this Startech: and this SNT: My point was simply that it is a fairly common thing to see the same thing with a different name on the box. They are all coming from the same factory.
February 18, 201115 yr oh i believe you. i was asking since earlier in the thread it was said icydock and the icybox were the same manufacture. which could very well be true. but personally i can not see the link. peace
