Clean wipe of Flash drive after licensing

Featured Replies

I have been playing around with unRaid and bought a license.  I want to start a new install of Unraid and wipe the existing flash drive but keep my license.  Is there a way to backup the license from the flash drive and restore the license file , after the flash drive has been reformatted.

I know I can just move to another disk and have the license transferred to that disk but, that is not what I want to accomplish.

Just looking to start the flash drive with a new unRaid image and place the only the dockers I know to work.

Your license is the .key file in the config folder on flash. All of your configuration is in that config folder should you want to keep any of it.

It is seldom necessary to go to the extreme of starting completely over, since Unraid installs itself into RAM fresh from the original archives on flash each time it boots. If all you want is to get rid of some dockers, just remove them. Same for any plugins you want to get rid of.

Unlike some other OS like Windows that might benefit from cleaning out all the accumulated stuff, Unraid doesn't really accumulate anything like that. A fresh install already happens at each boot as I said.

You should at least consider keeping your disk assignments unless you intend to start completely over with your data also.
