October 22, 201015 yr Hey All, Still on 4.3.3 with my media server and still with an original Asus board. I have been upgrading my drives over the last couple weeks. parity to 2tb and then three 750 to 2tb drives. last night the power went out in the middle of the night and I did not have time to get to the system before the backup died. So on reboot at 2am last evening it started parity check on a 2tb drive this morning at 7am it was about 30% finished with 1800 minutes to go at 14kb/s tonight I get home at 5pm and it is only at 42% with 98 errors and still at 14kb/s normally it has sped up atleast to 25kb/s. with the new drive installs I have been moving several large .avi and .mkv files >=20Gb to the new larger drives etc and I have not completed a parity check since the last drive upgrade of about two weeks ago. The file moving has been happening over the last week or so. I normally do my monthly parity check the last sunday of every month and it is always 0 sync errors and this is the first time it has ever been this slow. I have 0 read or write errors and I do not use User Shares. any thoughts, Thanks, Dave

You need to follow the instructions in the wiki to fix it. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Check_Disk_Filesystems

October 23, 201015 yr It is very good that your check of the file system shows no corruption. It does make me wonder why the operating system found all the errors it did. To me it would then indicate a problem with the memory, or the power supply, etc... If you have not recently checked, make sure the memory voltage timing, and clock speed is set correctly for your specific memory strips. Perform a memory test, preferably overnight, to ensure it is working correctly. Joe L.
October 24, 201015 yr Author Joe, Will do - LOL I have not touched the thing in about a year other than dust cleaning and hard drive upgrade. I am wondering now since I have added 4 2TB 2 - hitachi (inc parity) and 2 WD greens. it is drawing a little more on my PCP&C 750. Is there an easy way to load up memtest just a boot disk or some other way. I will check the power supply in the am. If you notice the Date on my syslog. it is stating Oct 30 - We are not there yet. I am also using super micro 5-3 chassis in a 4U rack case with a wall of 120mm fans behind them. This Asus board has always reported the wrong CPU speed since the day I installed it but pretty much trouble free... THX, Dave
October 24, 201015 yr Author Joe, So I removed the cover this morning, got out my trusty PSU checker and checked all the main psu headers as well as the spliiters that I used for fans, cages etc and all voltages are perfect. I blew the dust out, reseated the sata connectors on the cards and the cages and I upgraded to 4.5.6 and rebooted. I copied memtest from the 4.5.6 dwnld to my flash drive as well. can I run memtest from a telnet window with the array running. (SOLVED) - so I do not get the boot option to load memtest on startup. Thanks, Dave
