System Says "New Parity Disc installed" But it isn't?

Featured Replies

Powered up my unraid today, had it off for none Computer reasons, and it wants to install new found Parity drive.  But it is the same one I have been using, nothings been changed?  What to do?

Unraid likely lost connection to the parity drive. This can easily happen with a bad or loose connection anywhere from the saga port to the drive (normally cable and backplane) or power connection (splitter / cable). It only takes a single non-response for unraid to decide the drive has failed and kick it from the array. On reboot, unraid will see the old parity disk as a new disk and suggest using it to rebuild. You can proceed and hope for the best, but unless you address the root cause this will likely happen again.

I have looked at my connections, and all is locked in properly.  So you think that I should just let it restart, and rebuild the Parity drive?

If you don't see something obvious, at least plug and unplug the parity drive sata and power cables. Then let it rebuild. Run frequent parity checks for a couple weeks and monitor the health of the parity disk. Hopefully plugging and unplugging will be enough.
