Best way to achieve this...

Featured Replies

Hi,

I currently have my Calibre library and some other files on my array that I would like to move on a cache-only or cache-prefer share because I don't want drive(s) to spin up only to access some random files once or twice daily. And I would like to be able to move this share on my array on a weekly or monthly basis. The CA Appdata Backup/Restore v2 app seems to only backup the appdata folder on the cache drive. What is the best way to achieve this? Is there a docker that can synchronize some folders on a scheduled time? Or will I have to use a windows-based app? I've looked at Syncthing, Nextcloud, Resilio Sync and some others, but they all seem to synchronize in real-time so, it won't solve my problem since every change made on my calibre folder, for example, will synchronize in real-time so, drive will spin up to synchronize and I would like to avoid that.

Thank you.

You could simply put the Calibre Library under something like /appdata/calibre/Calibre Library and then the CA Appdata backup plugin would back it up for you.

yes, for my example, it could be a nice solution, but I would also like to create a cache-only/cache-prefer share for my Windows workstations stuff (documents, downloads...) and I would prefer to put them outside of the appdata share. It would be perfect if there was a CA plugin/docker to backup ALL of the cache drive onto the array on a scheduled time (once a week, once a month)... I'm open to suggestions, maybe I'll change my plan.
