June 26, 20197 yr Server was in storage for several years while i was abroad. Just fired it up but my USB has been damaged. I have the pro.key file (from 2012) and one back up file ldlinux.sys. I don't know which drive is the Parity. The two biggest drives are both 3 gigs. Think I'm running (was running 4.7). It's been awhile, it had Docker on it and a bunch of cool new stuff at the time . (maybe it was v5.0).. Not sure what to do. Maybe buy a 4 gig new drive and select that as the parity so nothing gets over written by mistake. Thanks in advance for any advice. I'm off to look at old photos to see if i have a pic of the old setup.
June 26, 20197 yr Community Expert If you had docker you were running v6, start with a new flash drive, add your key, then assign all disks as data drives, start the array, there should be only one unmountable drive, that's parity, if there's more than one post diags.
June 26, 20197 yr Community Expert If you do not know which drive is parity the trick is to use Tools->New Config and then assign ALL drives as data drives. Go to the Main tab to start the array and make sure you do NOT tick the parity is valid box. The array should now start and one drive should show as 'unmountable' and this will be the parity drive. If more than one drive shows as unmountable then stop and ask for advice. Make a note of the parity drive's serial number. You can now use Tools->New Config to reset the array again and this time you know which drive to assign as the parity drive (do not make a mistake as assigning a data drive to parity would promptly lose its contents when you start the array). Start the array to commit the drive assignments and you should be good to go. It is a good idea once you have everything set up as wanted to click on the Flash drive on the Main tab and use the option to create a backup which you can download to your PC (or some other suitable location). This would simplify things if a similar situation arises for any reason going forward.
