All Hard Drives not spinning down

Featured Replies

Hello All

It seems I have a problem with my Drives spinning down.  I actually only noticed since I added a drive and upgrade capacity of another :)

No all of them though

Parity and Disk 6 (SDB) will spin down (these are on a sata card)

Disk 1 through 5 will not on their own (these are from Mobo)

I now have them all set to spin down in 1 hour - but still no luck

If I spin them down manually they seem to stay down

System log attached

Thanks for the help

I have the same problem running unRAID 6.7.2, all my drives won't spin down.

I've set all drives to spin down in one hour, the server is running for 90 minutes now but all drives are till awake. Any ideas?

How often do you have fix common problems set to do background scans?

It was set to hourly, so I guess fix common problems keeps my drives awake to perform hourly tests. Thanks for the hint.

mea culpa.

You can also set FCP to "Avoid Disk Spinups", in which case any drive which is spun down won't get spun back up to run its tests.  Doesn't help though if the drives aren't spinning down in the first place due to FCP running too often.

I can set FCP to run hourly or daily. If I choose hourly and skip spun down drives should I set the spin down delay to 45 minutes to avoid the background scan from keeping the drives awake?
