Well now, i've got files all over the place using various shares and now want to consolidate into one 'share for all'.

What's the best way forward here to avoid losing the lot?

Can i move files, drag n drop between user shares without any risk?

EG

User shares .... Archives (all photos), Download (everything else) ... i now want to amalgamate into a new share 'Everything', ok to just move across and then delete old, now empty (??) shares?

 

 

I think I would create the new share, and then move the files from the old location to the new location.

Maybe I'm just ridiculous, but I'd then invoke the mover to ensure I have all files moved.

 

Then double-check they are available in the new share.

mv /mnt/user/randomshare/* /mnt/user/newshare/

mover

ls /mnt/user/newshare/

 

if you prefer a GUI, my recommendation is Binhex' krusader. But TQ's method will work great too.
