October 27, 201015 yr Hi All I have recently developed a problem which I am sure is self inflicted, but I dont know how to remedy it... I have UnRAID 4.5 Plus with a 2Tb parity disk, then a 250Gb, 320Gb, 2 x 1Tb and a 2Tb disk making the array. I have a number of user shares e.g. Media ¬ - Movies - Music - Television - Home Movies FTP ¬ - Work Stuff - Shared Stuff - Private Stuff Freds ¬ - Documents - Photos Marys ¬ - Documents - Photos Photographs ¬ - Folder 1 - Folder 2 These shares are then mapped; Media (M), FTP (F), Freds (Q), Marys ®, Photographs (P), etc... Anyway, the problem I have is this... Initially I had my FTP Server (Filezilla) pointing to the FTP share... but when I connected from a remote site the share appeared empty. I read some Filezilla forums and several people suggested it was a permissions issue... so I checked the permissions on the FTP share and I cant remember if there was an “Everyone” user listed, so I might have added one, or changed the permissions if it existed to “full”. Anyway this didn’t cure my problem but I found that if I set Filezilla up to share “\\192.168.1.100\FTP\” instead of “F:\” then all worked fine... so I thought all was OK. Anyway – I have over the last couple of days found that when I edit a photograph using Adobe Photoshop CS3, I am unable to save to the P drive, or indeed any share from the UnRAID server. I can however save to the desktop and then copy to the P drive within Windows (XP Pro) and then it is saved on the P drive OK. However some other software (e.g. CloneDVD 2) will successfully write to the shared drives! I have looked at the permissions in the security tab on the shares and the permissions look wrong e.g. FTP share; Group or Username – Everyone - - all boxes permissions are unticked Group or Username – root (Unix Group\root) - - all boxes permissions are unticked Group or Username – root (UNRAID-1\root) - - all boxes permissions are unticked except Special Permissions is set to “Allow” MARY share; Group or Username – Everyone - - all boxes permissions are unticked except Special Permissions is set to “Allow” Group or Username – root (Unix Group\root) - - all boxes permissions are unticked except Special Permissions is set to “Allow” Group or Username – root (UNRAID-1\root) - - all boxes permissions are unticked except Special Permissions is set to “Allow” MEDIA share; Group or Username – Everyone - - all boxes permissions are unticked except Special Permissions is set to “Allow” Group or Username – root (Unix Group\root) - - all boxes permissions are unticked except Special Permissions is set to “Allow” Group or Username – root (UNRAID-1\root) - - all boxes permissions are unticked except Special Permissions is set to “Allow” PHOTOGRAPHS share Group or Username – Everyone - - all boxes permissions are unticked except Special Permissions is set to “Allow” Group or Username – root (Unix Group\root) - - all boxes permissions are unticked” Group or Username – root (UNRAID-1\root) - - all boxes permissions are unticked except Special Permissions is set to “Allow” I would have expected to see some ticks in the “full control”, “modify”, “read & execute”, “list folder contents”, “read” or “write” boxes!!?? Also, just in case, the “Special Permissions” tick boxes are greyed out so they can’t be changed. And if I try to change any of the permissions as soon as I click Apply the ticks are removed. Can anyone help with advice? Thanks
October 27, 201015 yr In the Unraid web gui under Settings, is the Share security set to Simple or something else? Under the Shares settings, are they exported as read/write? I don't believe the Windows security permissions have any bearing on the unraid shares.
