I just got given a IBM System x3650 M4 its got a single xeon e5-2630 and 32 gigs of ddr3 in it. The board has a second socket and tons more room for more ram and redundant 700 Watt power supplies. The downside is it has 2.5" drive bays it's similar to this. I'm trying to switch my unraid to use the inherited hardware, maybe pick up another cpu and run dual if I can. I currently have 8 3..5" mechanical drives, 2 ssd's (cache, unassigned) and a NVME (unassigned for VM).

 

 I currently run my unraid server out of a node 804 with a 7700k and 32 gigs of ddr 4.  I want to make the 7700k a dedicated daily driver.

 

-is there a micro atx motherboard that'll support x79 socket 2011 that'll fit in the 804?

-am I better off finding a chassis that'll fit 8 3.5" drives and the serverboard with the Xeon?

 or is there a better option?
