What to do? Read Error with no other faults

Featured Replies

Here's what I have:

- 2 parity disks

- 4 data disks

Here's the situation:

- One of the data disks show 4 read errors.

- There are no SMART issues on any of the disks. I have run an Extended SMART as well and all of the disks are showing no issues, including zero reallocated sector counts or pending sectors.

- A full parity check showed no errors.

I'm going ahead and replacing the data disk with the read error, but I'm wondering if anyone else has any other explanations or things I should check for.

Diags might provide some clues.

The read error might be due to an external factor and nothing to do with the drive itself.   As was mentioned the diagnostics might provide a clue.
