What’s the right process to upgrade my motherboard and move drives to a SATA card?

Featured Replies

I’m about to upgrade my motherboard to a different model and add an LSI SATA card (9201-8i) to my setup, moving the drives off directly connecting to my old motherboard.

What’s the right/best process to do this?

In principle it should just be a case of plugging the new system together and booting Unraid and it should work.    Just as a precaution it is a good idea to take a screenshot of the Main tab in case the drives do not all come up immediately.

Yes just swap it over and boot up with the usb flash drive from the old server. Unraid will look for the drives based on the serial numbers of the drives and add them as they were before. But as @itimpi says a screenshot of the drives is a good idea .

As long as they were plugged into standards SATA ports on the original motherboard then the answer is yes :)
