disk cleared by accident

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a problem. we did some disk movement on the server and we added back in the array. However, we did not add all the drives at once and when we stopped the array and added the missing disks and started the array again. It started to clear the newly added disk. However, there is valuable data on those disk. When we noticed we stopped the array and we cleared the config and re-added all the disk at once.

The problem is those disk are now in this status Unmountable: No file system

Now we did not format them. I saw some old post on how to recover and I tried

But I have this error

Failed to open the device '/dev/sdf': Unknown code er3k 127

Any idea?

Depending on how valuable the data is, you may want to send the drive to a professional recovery service. The chances of recovering data with normal user tools after a significant portion of the drive has been zeroed out is pretty slim.

Your first avenue should be recovering the lost data from your backups.

It is not clear how quickly you noticed your error?    If it was just seconds then you might have a reasonable chance of recovering some of the data using a tool such as XFS Explorer outside Unraid.    If it was more than that the chances of recovering usable data are very slim as the ‘clear’ process would have destroyed a significant section of the file system control information on the drives.   As was mentioned you should probably be looking at your backups.
