Pducharme
Hi, since I rebuilt my server to Ryzen 3000 platform, I had to mess around inside the case of my server. Since then, my disk 15 gives udma read errors (like 500 000 errors). I then powered down, put the disk in a different slot to see if it's the disk, or the slot. The error didn't continue on this disk but started happening on the disk I put in the slot of previous disk 15. Then, I wanted to try if it was AGAIN the cable, so I switch 2 cables to see if the errors will change slots. I didn't check really well and when i did, I choosed the Parity2 slot's cable to switch with the other suspect cable. Booting the Unraid server result on Read Errors on the Parity 2 and it stayed disabled. So, I shut down the server again, and put back the cables were they were before, and reboot again. The parity 2 disk stayed disable again !! Why ?! how to put it back "Online" ?? Any help would be appreciate from a specialist ! Maybe @johnnie.black can give his comments on the issue ? unraid-diagnostics-20190801-1936.zip Edited August 1, 2019 by Pducharme Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Once a disk gets disabled it says disabled, to re-enable: https://wiki.unraid.net/Troubleshooting#Re-enable_the_drive Quote Link to comment

I'll do this when I get the new cable (because it's on the same SFF8087-to-4xSATA cable). Quote Link to comment
Pducharme
Finally, even with a new cable, it still gives read errors on the same damn slot !! It's either the LSI card's port that is defective or the Drive cage. I suppose I have to wait for the Parity Rebuild that is going right now ? (after I re-enabled the Parity 2 disk, it start the parity rebuild...) Can I stop that without losing my Parity 1 drive @johnnie.black ? I would like to switch the Port on the LSI card to see if the read errors will either follow the Slot on the drive cage or follow the new port on the LSI card. (to know if it's the card or the cage that is defective) Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
You can cancel, it will then start again from the beginning. Quote Link to comment

I did stop the parity rebuild of Parity2 disk. Then, did my test. The Disk15 is "Missing" now. I had to complete the Parity rebuild at the next boot (hope it doesn't get screwed because of missing disk15 (emulated) ? I ordered a new HBA card for now. When received, i'll test with that new HBA. Assuming the card is already in IT mode, can I assume I just have to plug my 2 SFF-8087 connectors to that new HBA card and Unraid will re-detect everything ? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
If it's in IT mode yes. Quote Link to comment
