Pre Installation Questions - FreeNAS to unRAID

Featured Replies

I have been using FreeNAS as my main fileserver storage, with a DVR VM and a Plex Jail. I am currently in the process of moving my zfs file system over so I can start from scratch with unRAID's xfs file system and everything correctly set up in a way that I can configure the pools and shares.

My questions is if there is a way to export/save the VM from FreeNAS and import it over to unRAID, it is unfortunately running as VM and not a Docker.

Is this possible, or will I have to set everything up again on the VM?

I would recommend to start things from scratch. I haven't found any tool that reliably does that.

You might be able to bring across a vdisk but the rest will need setting up again.  Even the vdisk cannot be guaranteed depending on its format.
