August 9, 20196 yr Hello, I have no idea what I'm looking at when it comes to SMART reports. I have been getting increasing "Uncorrectable Error Count" notifications - I'm up to 45. I also have a Reallocated Sector Count error as well. Is it time for me to get a new Cache drive? Samsung_SSD_850_EVO_500GB_S2RANXAH214540F-20190808-2048.txt Edited August 9, 20196 yr by kpc180

August 9, 20196 yr Author Thanks, I have a drive coming that will be here Saturday. Would it be wise to shut down the server until then? Or is it okay to keep using?

My cache SSD had been throwing regular SMART errors for a few _months_, a couple sectors here, a couple there. All had been quiet for about 3 weeks, and all of a sudden the SSD no longer existed as far as the disk controller was concerned. I genuinely thought that since the errors had quit I was good, but no. All my appdata was backed up with Squid's CA Backup, but the 3 VM's I had on that SSD weren't covered. One of them was my home automation VM, it had daily backups to the array, so good there, but my PfSense router VM wasn't, and my home theater Debian install wasn't either. No big loss, I had other VM's for home theater and a hardware PfSense box that I spun up, but still a pain.
