Not quite sure whats causing this, but for some reason my Windows10 VM is only getting around half or little less than half of my capable download speed. Everything in dockers download fast and often maxes out the connection but for some reason in the VM its usually less than half.

 

Is there a different setting or config I should be using?

The more I have started using my VM the more it has started to bug me, stuff like downloading ISO that should just take a minute is taking around 10mins. Is there anything obvious?

This is an extremely difficult issue to diagnose due to the multitude of things affecting download speed.

 

I can get close to 90% of my gigabit connection in my Win10 VM (and similar level from Unraid) so it's certainly not a VM problem.

However, this speed is only if I use my ISP speed test server. Otherwise, even with known fast servers (e.g. Ubuntu iso and Google), I would be happy if it get 50% gigabit.

 

Your best course of action probably is to try to migrate to using dockers for those purposes that require maxing out your connection.

I was assuming using VM would be the same as having win10 on a normal pc directly the my network switch... Only getting around 50mbps out of 350mbps down
