Dell R510 to Unraid

Featured Replies

I have a Dell R510 I want to use with Unraid.  I know the Perc6 cannot be flashed so can someone point me in the direction of what I should be getting for a new controller card for this server.  And do I need to get new cables as well?

Below is what I put into my R710 this was turn key just put it in and go but not in the slot that the perc6i was in I understood that it is proprietary and the card won't work properly you do need breakout cables but they are cheap enough

You could grab a Dell H310 on eBay and flash it to IT mode, just make sure it has a low profile bracket which you will probably need for your rackmount server.

Um think that's what I suggested and my slots are full length as I believe the R510 is?

Sorry I didn't follow your link, so I had no idea.

This worked for me.... You can go into the PERC configuration (Ctrl-R) during boot, and configure each physical drive as an individual Virtual Disk type Raid 0 and Unraid will see the disks individually without needing to flash anything or replace the card.

Not the recommended approach.
