Back story - flash drive died. Rebuilt a few weeks ago. Everything was working great. A week later, cache filled up and apps were no longer working since it was out of space. Deleted some files off one of the cache folders to make space.

 

Anyways - here are some files that will not move off cache. I've ran mover manually a few times now. Nothing changes. Tried tools > New Permissions. Didn't change anything.

 

Any idea why it won't move off?

Just checked and unfortunately they are not.

Make sure mover logging is enable, run the mover and post diags.

I just enabled it, ran mover, and not seeing any new log in the /logs/ folder on the flash drive. Is it somewhere else?

If there are no mover related errors in the log most likely the share where the data is is not set to cache="yes"

See first post. It is set to yes. Guess I'll just continue to monitor it. Don't recall ever having this issue before.

Why is it using mover.old, are you using some mover related script or plugin?

Oh didn't notice that. I do have CA Mover Tuning and thats what I enabled for loggging. Not mover itself. Oops wonder if thats whats causing problems.

Strange, usually there's a reason why a file is skipped, most commonly file is in use, already exists or not enough space on dest.

Removed the ca mover tuning plugin and tried again. Still no details

Not sure what's going, you sure the mover script is stock, i.e., no modifications?

I just did a fresh install since my last flash drive failed. I've only added some plugins and docker apps but never touched any config files manually or anything. 

OK, so I just did a quick test and the logger does include "file exists" when that's the reason when it's skipped, but for a file in use just prints skipped, no more info, so what makes more sense is those files being open, stop all dockers/VMs and try again.

Thanks I'll try that this evening when no one is using the box.

 

 

Another question for shares. Does the "minimum free space" take in account for the cache drive also? I had mine set pretty high (500GBs) and noticed this in my logs:

I assumed the minimum free space was for data drives only and there is still couple hundred gigs free on it currently.

Yes, it will write straight to the array if cache doersn't have enough space.
