Harro
I am wondering if I need the auxiliary power connection to this card. Reason is after having run about a week with no problems I now seem to have 2 disks keep going offline. I am only using 12 of the 16 connections but feel that since the same 2 disks go offline that I may need the added power. All my smart reports are good. I read this about the added power. "Normal PCIe connectors on the main boards have a maximum performance of 25W. But the controllers require 26.9W. Some newer main boards may have a higher performance". All cables are new and connections are tight. The Spin retry count number is very high on disk 1 but my thinking is that it maybe from lack of enough power. Any advise is appreciated. JorgeB
It's difficult to say if that's the problem, but it's easy to find out, connect the aux power and see if issues stop. 1 Quote Link to comment

Harro
Just to update this .. I have added the extra power cable to card and ran an extended smart test on the questionable drive with no errors. So it looks as the added power has solved the problem. Quote Link to comment
