September 8, 20196 yr I have an unRAID server running well, I have some extra money to add to my system. My sever has 16gb ram should I buy more ram or should I buy a cheap ups, I do get quite a few power outs. I live rural uk and at least once a month I get a small power outage. my server has a i5 8400 cpu i run 20 dockers and 1 vms, I’m looking at an extra 16gb of ram to make 32gb or a refurbished apc 800i any help would be appreciated
September 8, 20196 yr If everything is running well atm and given that you are living in an area with frequent power outages I would say that you should get a decent UPS. Don’t try to learn the hard way that a UPS can save your data and/or hardware!
September 11, 20196 yr Definitely a UPS I would say, it's a real worry when there is a power cut and whether or not any data is lost or worse, hardware damage.
