September 15, 20196 yr Can I use a Radeon HD 7700 gfx card for passthrough? All of the examples I've seen are using Geforces or newer Radeons. Edited April 24, 20206 yr by lsaranto
September 24, 20196 yr No reason this card won't work. My experience has been that cards starting with the HD2000 series from ATI/AMD work but prior to that its a no go. I don't think UEFI is required, you can run seabios VMs. I've actually gotten an FX series nvidia GPU to work and I know one other user was using a PCI FX5200 as well.
September 25, 20196 yr Author According to Asus's FAQ and TechPowerUp.com BIOS collection the HD 7750s that I have don't support UEFI. I was hoping to be able to passthrough them to a W10 VMs. I should have mentioned that in the opening post. I've done a lot of reading since posting the question. My current understanding is that it can't be done with W10 without UEFI support. Also, it seems some Linux distros are out.

September 26, 20196 yr Author Well then. I guess I'll have to test the HD 7750s before I buy new ones. I don't have the other hardware for the server yet, so it will take a while. I'll post an update.
April 24, 20206 yr Author Final update: The HD 7750s worked, but I could not find any logic in it. They worked both whether they were the primary or the secondary gfx card. Sometimes you got just one good VM launch. Sometimes more. And then on the next try just black screen. Then that gfx card didn't work until the server was rebooted. The secondary card was maybe a bit more co-operative. I ended up getting a GT710 and a GT1030.
