Opawesome Posted September 19, 2019 Share Posted September 19, 2019 (edited) Hi, This morning I tried to copy/create/move files on a share from windows and got this error : Error 0x8000FFFF: Catastrophic failure After a short "WTF / LOL" moment caused by how the failure is described as "catastrophic", I googled it, found out that some pleople talk about bad drive, and recommend scanning the drive for error. Investigate Here: [docker settings] Went to the "Main" tab and see plenty of free space : Cache Devices Device Identification Temp. Reads Writes Errors FS Size Used Free Cache [...] 500 GB (nvme0n1) * 232,978 18,446,744,073,709,486,080 0 btrfs 500 GB 111 GB 389 GB I guess the question is why does the cache drive would be mounted as "read only". It seems I should have investigate better before posting. Anyway, so it means it is a hardware issue ? Bad SSD or bad motherboard I guess. The machine is hooked up to a UPS so I can discard the power outage from the list. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB Posted September 19, 2019 Share Posted September 19, 2019 It's a hardware problem, it can be the device or the board, assuming it's not on a PCIe adapter, it can also be some firmware/compatibility problem, but once it drops Unraid can't do anything about it. Quote Link to comment
Opawesome Posted September 29, 2019 Author Share Posted September 29, 2019 I replaced the Crucial P1 with the Intel 660p about 5 days ago and have not noticed any problem since. So it was either a compatibility issue with the Supermicro X11SSH-4LN-F motherboard, or a defective Crucial P1 SSD. Quote Link to comment
