November 9, 201015 yr Hi, i have a question if i can get some fedback from you guys would be great. I am going to get a new switch and so far i have 3 options. TRENDnet TEG-S80G TRENDnet TEG-S80DG D-Link DGS-2208 I dont know the difference between the first one and the second one. I live in chile (220V) so no power adapter for the 2nd one would be nice. Any advice or some key feature that I am missing here?? Thanks in advance!
November 9, 201015 yr Any of those will work fine, so I would just go for whichever you can get cheapest.
November 9, 201015 yr The more expensive TrendNet has an internal power supply, rather than a brick. Either should be able to handle your higher voltage.
November 9, 201015 yr Author What about these? You might consider DDWRT and SSL VPN. What is DDWRT and SSL VPN? Why are they good to have? Thanks! DDWRT enables WOL and SSL VPN allows secure remote connection to your LAN. Does this switch have this features? Long term goal would be being able to access the Server from anywhere because i travel outside the country a lot and sometimes I need files that i cant bring with me and are stored in the server in my house. Any suggestion about this?
November 9, 201015 yr DDWRT is router firmware, not switch firmware. So it won't factor into this at all. I believe the same is true of VPN, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.
