Loosing network access after a couple of hours

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

New to unraid here, just recently got my build up and running. However, I'm having some trouble getting internet to work. Last night I thought I had it figured out and got it working. However, when I went to look at the system again this morning, internet connection is gone. I feel like I've reach the limit of my networking knowledge so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's what I did to get it working last night:

  1. Enable manual assignment on my router's DHCP server and associated my unraid's MAC address with 192.168.1.254
  2. Update unraid network settings to static IP and entered
    • 192.168.1.254 for ipv4
    • 192.168.1.1 as the gateway
    • assign DNS servers according to what I see in my router's "Internet status"
  3. Set bonding to no

I can temporarily restore internet access by assigning a different ip address within the IP pool and update unraid network settings accordingly, but then after a couple of hours it'll lose internet access again. Another thing to mention is that since I don't have a physical ethernet port in the room where I have my unraid server, I'm using a WIFI extender and plugging in the ethernet cable through that instead. This is a solution that I came across on the forum, sure if that could be part of the problem. Please see attached for the diagnostics that I ran when it lost internet again for the second time.

Temporarily set up the server where you have a wired connection to the router, and see if the symptoms stay consistent. If it works wired but not wireless, you know the issue is with the extender. If it disconnects while hard wired, you know the issue is elsewhere.
