ESXI and Unraid with a PCIE 2.0 x 1 SATA PCIe Card

Featured Replies

Hi, I like to use Unraid in a VM on ESXi.   I have one open PCIE slot  SATA controller to be pass through to the VM but it's PCIE 2.0 x 1.   If I get a 1 x PCIe card with 4 or 6 SATA ports will it affect the speed of read/right to the drives?  The PCIe 2.0 x1 bandwidth is 500mb/s.   Would using cache help with this card?   Thanks!

Also is it possible to pass an onboard sata controller to a Unraid VM?

Yes. But if not access all disks at same time, i.e. 1 or 2 disk then won't have bottleneck
