My issue is resolved, a second reboot of my Unraid server solved the problem and transcoding is back to running normally.

    Yeah if you’re running the server and node on the same machine then you can just use Tdarr_Server and set internalNode=true.    There’s a PR to update the unraid template:   https://g

So, I recently upgraded my server and seemed to have put my foot in it by choosing 11th gen (11500) as no suggestions here for the likes of 10th gen will get QuickSync working…

Has anyone had any luck getting this transcoding with these Rocket Lake based UHD 750 iGPU chips yet?

I’ve experienced it easily doing 6 x 4K > 1080p 10m streams in Plex so know it’s got grunt, so I’m apprehensive to buy a discrete GPU (like a now inferior p2000/2200) for transcoding! Or having to cough up a lot more for an RTX (A)4000 where QuickSync will probably work eventually…

One thing about Tdarr is the lack of documentation is next level, if you’re not a developer I really struggle to know how you’d set it up and use it. Concept is amazing though!

It looks like most people are using this docker for GPU transcoding. I don’t have a GPU in my unRAID server and no slot to install one so I’m wondering if anyone is using this docker with CPU transcoding and how well it performs on say 2 cores? I don’t want it to interfere with other operations.

I'm quite interested in tdarr, before i have a crack at this tdarr can anyone tell me can you preserve a dolby atmos or dtshd track while converting movie formats say from h264 to h265.?

Should be fine, will just be very very slow.

Thanks for the reply. I knew it would be slow but it’s not a good time to be upgrading. I would need a new motherboard (and probably new cpu) in addition to a GPU. My current motherboard doesn’t have an x16 slot.

Currently I’m using handbrake on a desktop to re-encode and that works ok but it’ll be more than a year to do 2000+ videos. My plan is to use this docker to help with that workload and also re-encode any new x264 videos that get added in the meantime.

Now I just need to find a “TDARR For Dummies” guide.😁

Trying to work out the plugin creator. If I want to import a preset from handbrake on my desktop do I just copy the exported json file to a location in the docker and enter this into the custom presets?

--preset-import-file "/mnt/media/h.265 10-bit.json" -Z "My Preset h.265 10-bit"

Will that json be saved into tdarr or do I need to leave it for each use?

Must have screwed up something. Test file keeps erroring.

I have been using Tdarr AIO to reencode my libraries, first Movies, and now TV library. I did not notice this with the Movies but with Plex, every TV episode that gets converted to H.265 shows up a "new episode" based upon sorting by "By Last Epsiode Date Added", I guess because the file timestamp that is getting written for the re-encoded H.265 file has been updated.

Is there any way to preserve the timestamp in Tdarr from the original H.264 file? It is very hard to track new TV show releases because every few minutes there is an older show that has since been assigned a new timestamp and now Plex thinks it is new again?

I’m thinking about purchasing a GPU to use with this docker. If I google “nividia 1080Ti” I get a wide range of prices from $100US to over $400US. I can see from the pics that aren’t the same cards.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a GPU that works great and hopefully costs less than $400? I really don’t trust a $100 GPU from Walmart.

I'd go for gtx1650 suoer or a 1660ti, one of these will decode h265 as well as encode, i bought a 1660ti as the turing card will decode h265 as well as encode, i wanted to compress my 4k collection and would've taken ages with my old maxwell gtx Titan card as that wouldn't decode h265, the 1650 super are decent and were highly recommended to me.

Something like this-

Really strange that the pcneeds site would use the same phone number as a flea and tick collar supplier.

And they are located in Edison Edison, NJ.

I didn't stutter.😀

Very fishy.

I'm trying to create a plugin using the plugin creator but not having much luck. I want to re-encode h265 videos that are above 40GB using an imported handbrake preset.

Here's a screenshot of the plugin-

When I test this on a large h265 video it just gets added to the not required queue. What did I miss???

Or perhaps there is a plugin that will already do this with 10-bit audio preserving audio and subtitles?

Like many recently commenting on this thread, I have watched Space Invaders setup video and figured I would give this a go with an old 1050Ti I have kicking around. Did some initial testing and it seems to work well.

I have though come across some threads where Unraid users are reporting daily loss of their Shares since using Tdarr, that can only be temporarily rectified by daily server reboots.

Hard to get a feel for how many people this is affecting, but eithe way I'm now feeling pretty reluctant to fire Tdarr up and set it to work on the 40TB or so of media I have. Has anyone on this thread heard of this but not experienced it, or experienced it and found a fix?

Very keen to get started but the paranoia is real!

I've heard of it since CA had a warning about it on the TDARR docker pane. Haven't experienced it though (I'm just getting started with this docker too).

Here's the thread linked in CA- https://forums.unraid.net/bug-reports/stable-releases/683-shfs-error-results-in-lost-mntuser-r939/?tab=comments

TL;DR- There were some reports that it was happening every 6 to 10 hours and recommendations to disable hardlink support.

Global Share Settings>Tunable (support hard links)

Thanks, although I can't see anywhere in that thread a recommendation to disable hardlinks. Are you able to clarify this further?

Keep in mind that this docker has been downloaded more than 5.6 million times so a dozen or so reports of issues isn’t really a major issue. From what I’m reading in that thread all you would need to do is reboot your server and stop using this docker if you were one of the very few who are affected.

I've had tdarr plowing through my library doing h.265 transcodes and have nearly saved 2 TB of storage so far. I've got a server running on my UnRAID box and a node set up on my Windows w/ 2080ti.

Problem: about 1/3 of transcodes end up in the failed queue with "The following source file cannot be accessed" when I click on the I button next to them. I've ready plenty of posts about having incorrect translate paths in the Window's node's config file, but this isn't my problem since the other 2/3s of transcodes are working fine.

Node Translate Entries:

{
	"server": "/mnt/media",
	"node": "\\\\192.168.1.100\\media"
},
{
	"server": "/temp",
	"node": "\\\\192.168.1.100\\tdarr_cache"
}

I've scanned through some of the log files that I'm aware of and just see a string of "Processing file" entries on the node-side and 'everything's fine' on the server side.

UnRAID array has plenty of space, cache drive has plenty of space, and the Windows node is mostly unused at the moment aside from grinding through transcodes.

What else should I be looking into?

Config:

Health Checks: CPU only, 6, only on Node

Transcodes: GPU only, 2, only on Node

Figured it out.

Instead of checking the tdarr logs on my Windows node, I went to the Event Viewer.

Cause 1: My NIC dropped connectivity for a second or two. tdarr goes ballistic and flags queued transcodes as fast as it can with the 'source file cannot be accessed' until the NIC came back online. These can be batches of 100 - 200!

Cause 2: I updated my Nvidia driver. While the Node was running. What an idiot! Might as well hot-swap a video card next time.
