No IP Address. Getting a 169 address

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

So I decided to downgrade my unraid server to a previous stable version through the webui and I haven't been able to get a ip address assigned to the server now. I have tried deleting the network.cfg file and booting up again but that didn't seem to work. I have attached the diagnostics file. Any help would be great!

Those diagnostics seem to indicate your server has the IP 192.168.0.25

Do you have an attached keyboard and monitor?

I can attach a keyboard and montior easily and pull up a newer diagnositc...i thought that was the newest. I went into gui and created one...hmmm let me do that again. Will update the post with new diagnostic.

Don't do that. We won't get notified if you update an existing post. Create a new post in this thread with the diagnostics attached.

Hey guys,

Here is the updated diagnostics. I tried a few other things to maybe fix the issue but it didn't seem to work. Factory reset my router but that didn't help.

I see you have two 10Gb/s NICs but no others. They use the ixgbe driver, according to the lspci.txt file in your diagnostics but, according to the lsmod.txt file, it isn't loaded. Your syslog reports that device eth0 does not exist. Have you downgraded to a version that doesn't support your card?

  • Author

Hmm that shouldnt be the case because I was on this version before and it worked perfectly fine. Both NICS are onboard.

Try booting into safe mode then, just to eliminate plugins etc. It probably won't make any difference but it's worth a try. Do you have a gigabit card you could try?

Tried booting into safe mode just now and I got the same result.

I took a look at your diagnostics from January. The ixgbe module is loading properly there - that was Unraid 6.6.6. Now (6.7.1) it isn't. Maybe something went wrong with the downgrade. Try copying the bz* files to your USB flash again. Can you manually load the module?

modprobe ixgbe

So copy all the bz* files from here onto my flashdrive? Tried "modprobe ixgbe" but got could not insert error. I'm going to try and copy the bz files.

well replacing the bz files worked...

Good. One of them must have become corrupt when you originally copied it.
