Zonediver
After the middle of the 5th WD-RED has given up the ghost, I'm now fed up with this WD garbage. The 8TB RED, who just died, has held exactly 6 months and 17 days - a joke! Can someone recommend a good alternative? Thanks for your help Quote Link to comment
Chris Pollard
Seagate or Toshiba are the only alternatives if you want specialised NAS drives. Personally I buy Toshiba or Seagate NAS / enterprise drives, whichever I can get cheaper. WD RED are 10-20% more expensive for the same product so I haven't bought one of those for quite a long time now. Quote Link to comment
debit lagos
The longevity and repeatable failures of the 8TB Red has scared me into sticking with the 6TB Reds. I've not had one 6TB fail on me yet. Current array has been 24/7 for the past two years..... SOLID. Quote Link to comment
Hoopster
My array has four WD 8TB Red drives and is on 24x7. Three of the four have been in the array for 2 1/2 years and the fourth for about 8 months. I have had zero issues with any of them. Obviously, YMMV. Quote Link to comment
HK-Steve
Just unlucky I guess. I have 7x 8Tb WD Red in my Tower3, my main Tower total 100Tb data. 2x are my Parity drives. How old is your power supply? Quote Link to comment
MMW
I would check my SATA cables as well (if you haven't already). Quote Link to comment
