No Sound on Win10 VM using ICH9

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I installed my first WIN10 VM on unraid to day, it pretty much went as I would expect it to except the virtual sound.

I added the following to the xml of the VM

<sound model='ich9'>
</sound>

restarted win10, the red X on the audio went away, and the device manager shows no issues. but i have not sound.

Any Ideas on what I can check?

UPDATE (But not solved): If i use the Microsoft Remote Desktop app to connect to the VM, the sound works fine, just not when I use the built in VM VNC Viewer, is that normal? is there a setting I am missing?

Thanks @jonathanm do you know, is there a way to change the view in unraid from VNC, to something that does support sound?

My server is in the utility room, and its super easy to open the VNC Viewer from the Unraid window after starting the VM (as opposed to installing NoMachine or some other program on each VM and on my Main PC).
