davidst95
Hi, I have a 2700X and a Asrock 570M motherboard with 8 SATA ports. I would like to use ESXi and have a Unraid on a VM. Is it possible to pass-though the SATA ports on the motherboard or is a seperate SAS/SATA controller required. The motherboard only 2 x 16 and 1 x 1 PCIe slots so I would like to save it for something else in the future. Thanks! David Quote Link to comment
doron
I didn't look up the specific mobo but typically the SATA ports are tied off of the chipset, which you can't passthru. The better news is that you can pass the SATA drives you connect to them, as RDM drives. This forum has numerous guides as to how to do that. This will leave your slots free. 1 Quote Link to comment
